Pack your knapsack full of children’s stories!

Welcome to the Orchard, backpackers!

In The Apple Orchard, there is a neighborhood of friends that are happy you are here. They are old and young, some are stuffed animals, some are real animals. All of them tell the most amazing stories about the places they have been and help each other solve their problems… or just listen when those problems can’t be mended right away.

About Mousey’s World

There are many wonderful things to see and do in Mousey’s world. In the same neighborhood, you can visit the mountain tops, the beach, and deep valleys with rushing rivers, all within a day’s hike! In Mousey’s neighborhood, you’ll find three main places where the friends like to spend their time together:

The Orchard - where Mousey and his two best friends live with a little boy who just had his 5th birthday. Mousey and the boy share a treehouse in a tiny June apple tree right in the middle.

The WayMaker Lighthouse - a tall, strong tower with a light that shines through the morning mountain mist and cuts through the darkness at night.

Dealer’s Choice Neighborhood Restaurant - no menus, no “usual orders,” just neighbors taking turns cooking their favorite cuisine. (But everyone gets taco salad on their birthday, of course!)

  • Empower and encourage children to…

    • Get outside

    • Be creative

    • Learn new words

    • Try new tastes

    • Never be afraid to think and feel deeply

    • Draw, paint, write and express thoughts and feelings in constructive ways

    • Explore and experiment

    • Find ways to have fun offline and away from screens. (…ironic you’re reading this on my website, huh?)

Ultimately, this is where I enjoy housing my own creative side that nods to lessons learned in my past as well as my ideals for the future.

  • Too many to list here, but these are a few:

    • Faith, Hope, and Love

    • My son - book one (Fall of Five) is his birthday present, given the day he turns 5. He is the main reason I look forward to waking each morning and he is an evergreen fount of creativity.

    • My Mentors - I am grateful to have grown up around so many encouraging and loving people. They include my parents, grandparents, school teachers, college professors, leaders in my professional work, and many others.

    • Many childhood memories of excellent bedtime stories!

  • North Carolina, United States

In the stories, the entire state and it’s lovely landscapes and landmarks have been reduced to the size of a neighborhood.

Residents can walk from the mountains to the sea in just a day.

Out of the joys and depths of your heart and mind, inspired by what you are given… create: the impalpable, the imperishable - that will soar high enough to lift you up, and perhaps encourage someone else.

It will be entirely you and something beautifully new.
